How to Throw a Fight Night Party Like a Boss
1. Find your people
Go and check your phone and maybe even your social media accounts for your friends who you know would want to watch the fight.
2. Create a good list
Not everyone mixes well. People are like alcohol. You probably shouldn’t mix wine with tequila and rum with scotch. Do not mix all of your friends . Figure out who be a good fit to ensure a stress free, fun filled night.
3.Invite Time!
Some people go the old fashioned way and send out paper invitations. What ever way you choose to invite people really sets the tone. In other words if you do send out invites in the mails, you are going the formal route and we would expect you to serve hors d'oeurves, and keep yelling to a minimum. Now, if you sent out a mass text message to your friends I might expect it to be a BYOB type of event with tons of yelling and maybe some pizza. The choice is up to you. Facebook is probably one of the best and easiest ways to invite all of your friends.
4. Make a Kick Ass Menu
People love to eat. Make sure they can stuff their faces at your fight night party. No, but make sure to serve enough food to balance out the alcohol intake. Finger foods make everything easy to grab, easy to eat, and make less dishes in the end.
Try to also include vegetarian options for those who do not want any meat or just want something light.
For dessert you could incorporate fight night theme by offering guests a custom cookie in the shape of boxing gloves.
5. Offer non-alcoholic beverages
Never assume that everyone likes to drink alcohol or that everyone need to drink a cocktail. Provide at least two other fun beverages for your non-drinkers. They will appreciate you for it.
6. Photograph options
Consider how you will preserve your fight night memories. Will it be with your camera phone or your digital camera? Another cool option would be to create a photo op with real boxing gloves that people could put on and pose with for the picture. A cut out of one or both fighters would also be a great touch.
7. Chair set up
Check to see who has RSVPd so that you can provide enough seating for everyone. Granted, if you are watching the Mayweather vs Conor McGregor fight, it may not last too long. BUT you never know and you don’t want your guests to have to stand the entire time.
8. Set up Designated Drivers or Uber for those that need rides
Be an awesome host. Make sure that all of your guests have a safe drive home. The last thing you want is someone getting behind the wheel and driving home intoxicated. Call an Uber or Lyft to ensure your guests arrives home safe and sound.
9. Order that fight!
This sounds like a no-brainer, but just make sure you really ordered the fight. Figure out all of the technicalities before the crowd arrives. You want to make sure your sound system is working properly and that everyone will be able to watch from where they are sitting.
10. Get a helper
Have one of your besties help you with food prep, set up, meeting, greeting, and the after math. The more help you have, the easier it will be for you to play the awesome host that you are!
